FAQ

What types of jobs are available?

The job postings are for professionals in a broad range of sectors and industries. They include positions in programming, creative, account management, sales, admin, management, and more.

Can I suggest perks and lifestyles that aren’t featured?

Yes! We’re always looking for ways to improve our services and offerings. Please email suggestions@altcareer.com with your suggestions.

What types of companies are featured?

We focus on small companies that offer exciting lifestyle and office perks. We pick companies that will provide various levels of challenge, responsibility and impact to your career.

How small is a “small” company?

We pick companies that have less than 500 employees.

How am I notified for an interview?

Employers will contact you via email or through the contact number that you’ve supplied.

What do employers see when I apply for a job?

They see a copy of the personal profile that you’ve created on AltCareer. You can always preview your profile before confirming your application for a job.

Who can see my profile?

The only employers that will see your profile are those that you apply for. No other employers will be able to see your profile unless you give us your approval.

Why can’t I post my resume?

With the advent of Linkedin, Zerply, Twitter, and other social media networks, the resume is no longer the focal point. Using our profile feature, you can showcase everything about yourself alongside your experience and expertise. Your profile page will contain an option to specify which social media profile you would like to use as your main resume.

Can I still send employers my resume?

You don’t need your resume to apply to jobs through our site. However, in some cases, the employer may request a copy of it if that is their standard hiring practice. We'll be trying our best to wean them off that dependancy!

Which social media profiles should I focus on?

We recommend that you fill out one “primary” profile under the Online Resume field of your profile – either Zerply or LinkedIn. But, we encourage you to add any other social media profiles that you feel will help showcase your abilities. If your Facebook profile is something you don't want to share (and we don't blame you!) then, don't include it.

Why would potential employers want to see my social media profiles?

If employers only based their criteria on experience and expertise, they wouldn’t even have to interview candidates. Today, employers are looking for a good fit, and social media is an excellent way to qualify this.

What if I’m not on social media?

Here’s your chance to show us what you’ve got! More and more, employers are using social media to screen candidates before interviews. We recommend filling out a Zerply or LinkedIn profile. It’s the best way to showcase your professional experience.

What about Facebook?

It’s your choice. First impressions are everything, so if your Facebook is more personal than professional, then it may not be the best choice to include it.
